Today I visited the Gold Coast Railroad Museum in Miami, FL. I have visited many railway museums across the country and this was a nice small museum. The museum is located on the grounds of what was once a Naval Air Station. The museum has a large shed that houses the museum's restored cars. The prize of their collection is the Presidential car Ferdinand Magellan, this car was used by the presidents Roosevelt, Truman and Eisenhower. It was also used by Ronald Reagan during his 1984 re-election campaign. In addition to the Ferdinand Magellan the collection also contains a nicely restored 4-6-2 Pacific, and a California Zephyr Vista Dome car. The museum offers rides in a passenger car as well as Diesel Cab Rides. If you are ever in Miami and want to visit a nice small railroad museum, I would highly recommend the Gold Coast Railroad Museum.
